Number 2: You have a strong sense of self-worth.
Narcissists are notorious for controlling their victims, they do this by making them feel like they don’t have a strong sense of self-worth and need to rely on the narcissist to make them feel better about themselves.
But if you have a strong sense of self-worth, you know that you’re not defined by someone else’s opinion of you, and that’s something that narcissists are incapable of understanding. If narcissists can’t control your worth, they can’t control who you are. A narcissist May tear down your self-esteem to get what they want from you.
Still, if you are confident in who you are, it’ll be harder for them to manipulate your emotions; you don’t need to feel validated by others when you have a strong sense of self-worth. You often don’t even need to be validated by yourself; you know what you’re capable of and trust yourself to make the right decisions.
Number 3: You are independent and resourceful.
Narcissists don’t like strong and independent people; they want to control you and can only do that if you’re unable to think for yourself or are afraid of them. This is why they will often try to make you feel like you’re a helpless child who needs them to take care of things. They want to control your every move and will do anything to make sure you depend on them for everything.
Narcissists want people who will rely on them for everything and don’t want their victims to ever leave their side. This might be done through manipulation or by making you feel like there’s something wrong with you if you don’t agree with everything they say. Suppose you can care for yourself and your needs without relying on anyone else. In that case, narcissists won’t be able to control you.
