Tactic 1: Stealing Your Identity
They try to steal your soul by adopting your characteristics and taking credit for every good thing you do.
Your defeat starts when the narcissist realizes they were unable to crush your spirit. This is because they chose you as the recipient of their manipulations. After all, you represent the thing they are missing in life. This may be your energy, creativity, integrity, and so on; in other words, your spark of light. When they realize they have failed to extinguish this light, their jealousy transforms into identity cannibalism.
They no longer want to outdo you. No, they want a complete replacement. The narcissist will seek to dress like you, talk like you, and exhibit the very traits they would previously criticize and mock you for. Such a type of hatred is brutal because essentially, they lack character. They seek to steal yours.
They will start taking your ideas, your plans, and your hard-earned success as their own. They will take your wisdom and present it in front of gatherings as their own, thinking that just because they utter those words, they own the thoughts behind them. Being like this makes them mediocre.
This is complete sabotage. This is a steal of the work of a lifetime because they are empty enough to have nothing of their own. They hate you because you are original, and they know from the rotten core of their psyche that they’re simply a copy—a cheap imitation made of plastic.
By copying you, they hope to prove to the world (and to themselves, of course) that you were nothing special, that your qualities are just components to be used by anyone. It’s just their desperate attempt to survive the humiliation of their defeat through borrowing your flesh.
