11. Don’t Let Their Insult Reach You.
Narcissists will be likely to use others’ negative feelings, i.e., sadness or anger, as their manipulation tool. One of the best strategies that you can employ to puzzle a narcissist is not letting their insults reach you. You might even agree with them to puzzle them further.
For instance, when a narcissist labels you ridiculous to try and disqualify you, you can respond by saying, “I am ridiculous, aren’t I?” Not only will this get the narcissist confused, but it can make the narcissist worse than they already are in certain situations.
One advantage of employing this tactic to confuse the narcissist is that it forestalls them embarrassing you or inciting a fight by making you angry.
10. Cease Defending Yourself.
Even though this tactic might be a little counterintuitive for some onlookers, narcissists will become totally confused if you cease defending yourself to them. This is because making you want to fight back is another tactic that narcissists use. Come on, attempting to get a fight out of someone who will not fight back is not even fun at all, is it? You don’t necessarily have to agree with them to confuse them. Actually, sometimes just ignoring the narcissist’s rude remark could be more effective in confusing them.
